Job Description

A vibrant Day Nursery in Radlett is looking for a Senior Nursery Nurse to join their team. The Nursery operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm, 50 weeks of the year and cares for up to 90 children aged two years to five years.

Located in a large spacious building, the Nursery sets out to provide exceptional care and education for all ages and offers every unique child the same opportunities to develop and learn.  The Nursery consists of four stimulating rooms and a large outdoor play area. Each room provides numerous planned activities to extend children’s learning and development in line with the EYFS.

Your role as a Senior Nursery Nurse will involve supporting and assisting all age groups, ensuring children receive the highest standard of care and education and that staff are being supported. You will also have Key Worker responsibilities. You will be required to work 40 hours per week on a fixed rota with some earlier finishes.

Your role will include:

  • Working in partnership with and supporting the Manager and Deputy to ensure the daily running of the Nursery
  • Supervising staff and students and carrying out supervisory meetings where appropriate under the guidance of the Management team
  • Assisting staff and students with the planning of activities and for your own Key Children
  • Key worker responsibilities, including planning, observing and recording learning development in line with the EYFS
  • Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues
  • Encouraging children to develop their social skills, interaction and self-esteem
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings as and when required
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s

All candidates must have:

  • A NVQ level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Previous Senior experience within an Early Years setting
  • DBS registered with the Update Service
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS
  • The ability to lead and support a team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
