This small friendly “Outstanding” Nursery based in Central Croydon is currently recruiting for a Third in charge/ Pre-school Room Leader. Salary range from £19,500 - £21,000. You will need to be an enthusiastic and motivated team member working alongside the Nursery Director and Manager. Nursery is open Monday to Friday 07:30 – 18:15 for 51 weeks of the year, they cater for up to 42 children a day age from 0 to 5 years.

The Nursery is situated in Central Croydon and is set into 3 rooms according to ages and stages of development. Baby Room, Toddler Room & Pre-School Room, You will be the room leader of the Pre-school Room supporting children in their social skills, building on their independence and preparing them for school, Activities are planned to meet children’s needs through the EYFS curriculum. The nursery has an outside area where children are able to have free-flow access all year round.

Your role as the Third in Charge / Pre-school Room Leader will be supporting the running of the nursery when the senior staff are absent ensuring high quality of care. You will be based in the office from time to time taking on more senior responsibilities such as staff rota’s, record keeping, budgets and admin duties following and implementing policies and procedures.  You as the Third in Charge / Room Leader will be leading and managing the staff team and being a keyworker to a group of children planning and implementing play activities through the EYFS you will need to ensure that your children’s development journals are kept up to date. You will need to be able to build trusting relationships with children and positive partnerships with parents and planning times for parents meetings.

All Candidate must have:

  • A Minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Child Care & Education or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working within an Early Years setting.
  • A Minimum of 2 year experience of working in a supervisory role
  • Previous experience working in a pre-school room for children 3-5 Years old
  • Excellent Management skills
  • Excellent Knowledge of the EYFS Curriculum and Safeguarding
  • Excellent Knowledge of Ofsted Regulations and inspection Criteria
  • Have an awareness of Health & Safety legislation & Equal Opportunities
  • A passion for working with the under-fives
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • The ability to use your own initiative
  • A good understanding of all nursery duties
  • The ability to work in partnership with parents
